Ten Very Sad Years Since The Demise of TWA Flight 800

Yon was in his first year of college. He had always been very involved in his school, sports and community. In high school, in different grades, he held every political school office available and was voted King of the Senior Prom. He was also president of the Debate Team. To help his community Yon volunteered at 3 Jewish Old Age Homes and spent time just being with, and talking to, people. When he would come home after his visits he would say, "Eema, I love old people. They're so wise."
 
Yon had been involved in sports activities since the age of 6, but his true love and passion was basketball. On July 17, 1996 Yon was on his way to Rome, Italy to try out for the Italian Basketball League at the suggestion of Coach Larry Brown. He was scheduled to be on TWA Flight 841 to Rome. That flight was canceled and he was put on TWA 800 with the promise of a shuttle to Rome. Unfortunately he did not have the time to call and let me know of the change in schedule because he had to literally run to make the TWA 800 flight.

It is impossible for me to believe that almost 10 years have passed since that horrific night of July 17, 1996 when TWA Flight 800 exploded off the coast of Long Island, NY.

It is impossible to even contemplate that so much time has passed since my beautiful son, Yon Rojany, was blown out of the sky and fell over 13,000 feet to his death.

I'm sure it's difficult for anyone who loses a loved one, especially a child, to grasp the reality of their loss. In my case I believe the difficulty in accepting and dealing with Yon's death is magnified because the conclusions given by the NTSB and the FBI to the families of TWA Flight 800 and to the American public were lies.

I wish there were a nicer word than “lies,” but there is not.

As we all know, most people who witness certain events tend not to want to get involved. If the FBI says there were 270 eyewitnesses who saw an ascending object streak up and culminate in an explosion you can be sure there were many, many more who saw it, maybe even thousands.

What is interesting is that even if there were only 270, all of their descriptions of the event were very similar, depending on where they were located at the time they saw the explosion. Some were on the land, and some were in airplanes or helicopters. Some were ordinary citizens, some were pilots and some were military personnel. They ALL said an object streaked toward the plane, the plane exploded and then went straight down.

This should make every single American wonder about the NTSB, FBI and CIA who collaborated in the creation of the CIA's notorious cartoon showing the nose of the plane coming off and then the plane climbing over 3,000 feet!! There is absolutely no validity to this incredible lie, and we all should wonder what our government is covering up and why.

Why would they say the eyewitnesses saw an optical illusion? Why would the CIA say that what was seen was the fuel of the plane and not a missile, especially since the exit of the fuel started in mid-air flowing downward and the object the witnesses saw originated from the horizon and was rising? And, if these government agencies were so certain that what they concluded to be the cause of the explosion of TWA Flight 800 was the truth, why did they not allow even one eyewitness to give his/her version of what they had seen during the final hearings?

There are too many unanswered questions, and it is time our government tells us what really happened that night.

The family members of TWA flight 800 have waited far too long for the truth. Please help us get it out. There has never been a Congressional hearing on TWA Flight 800. Ask your Congressman why not.

It is never too late for the truth.
